This baby did not have the best start to life. We learned of her on April 23rd, an orphaned little baby in Tijuana, Mexico. She was reportedly being beaten on the street, and a local animal advocate got the pup away from her attackers and into a safe temporary home. We were able to bring her into the States on the 25th, thanks to the HUGE effort of an international rescue village! Our sweet Pekeña will have nothing but better days ahead of her now.
We took Pekeña to a 24 hour vet as soon as she arrived. She unfortunately had sarcoptic mange, highly contagious, so she was quarantined for a month to receive treatment. She was anemic with a heart murmur and roundworms when we first got her, but all that is cleared up now too. Baby Pekeña is doing SO WELL now! Just check out her pics and see for yourself! She's a whopping 19 pounds with a big full belly, bright eyes and a wagging tail. She's growing and filling in like you wouldn't believe! We're going to give her a few more weeks of stronger health, and then she'll be spayed and ready to move into her forever home!!
